Wrekin PPC Thomas Janke

Thomas and his family live in The Wrekin, both of his daughters go to school in Newport and he has served the people of The Wrekin for 3 years as a Newport councillor. Thomas Janke Rememberance Sunday

Thomas' dedication to serving the great people of this country started many years previous to becoming a councillor, during his time in the British Army. He served in the prestigious Queens Royal Lancers, a front-line fighting regiment, where he completed a tour of Iraq and was awarded the Op Telic medal for his services. He is still an active veteran promoting charities to help those struggling with PTSD.

There is no questioning Thomas' passion for serving the public.

Thomas is a Newport resident and dad of 2, a current Telford and Wrekin Borough Councillor (Newport South & East) and Newport Town Councillor. The residents of Newport will attest to the amount of time and effort he puts in to his role as councillor.

Thomas will bring his energy and drive to the role of MP, this is no less than the constituents of The Wrekin deserve - a visible and hard working MP. Thomas has actively campaigned to save our A & E and the Woman's & Children's Centre at the PRH where his youngest daughter was born.

He believes the proposals being put forward by any future Liberal Democrat government would go on to ensure we kept these services at PRH. Thomas supports a full review of the healthcare services across the county on the whole, not just simply ignoring the professional clinical advice in reconfiguring SATH.

Telford & Wrekin Lib Dems march to save our A&E

Thomas said:

"There needs to be an overhaul of all services, not just acute services offered at our hospitals. We would invest in GP surgeries, social care structure and mental health care provision. We need to stop this counterproductive system of sending all patients through A&E".

Thomas feels it is important that any prospective parliamentary candidate is a true local person with an acute understanding of the issues that we all face as a community. Thomas was born and raised in the Wrekin constituency. Wellington, High Ercall and Shifnal he has called home and now resides in Newport. To Thomas, this isn't just any other job, it's an opportunity to give back to the very communities he's lived in and loved throughout his life.

As the evidence suggests, Thomas believes hand on heart that Brexit has a real detrimental threat to The Wrekin's rural and urban economies. The impact assessments alone on constituencies such as The Wrekin reveal we would be one of the worst hit areas in the country. Thomas Janke hanging basketsHe believes that any self-respecting potential MP that wishes to protect livelihoods, and the prevent the social impacts on our community, would be rejecting the very notion of Brexit altogether.

We cannot allow a process that knowingly damages job prospects and puts our farmers out of work to continue. Perusing Brexit goes against the very nature of doing what is right for our community and the country on the whole. Thomas is fighting to safeguard The Wrekin from this inevitable disaster and is the ONLY true remain candidate on the ballot paper at this General Election.

Let's Stop Brexit and Build a Brighter Future for the Wrekin by voting Liberal Democrat on Thursday 12th December.
