The Shawbirch Ward Councillor resigned from the Conservative Party at the weekend and joined the Liberal Democrats after making contact with local party chair, Councillor Greg Spruce.

The Lib Dem Focus team has secured a commitment to keep the Shawbirch East site as green as possible.
Cllr Bill Tomlinson (Shawbirch), Cllr Karen Blundell (Apley Castle) and Cllr Karen Tomlinson (Dothill), working alongside local residents, raised a series of questions about the site at the full Council meeting in July . Local Lib Dem councillors have continued to work with the "Keep Shawbirch Green" action group, since the successful campaign to stop a polluting toilet roll factory on the site earlier this year.

To offset Telford and Wrekin Liberal Democrats' carbon footprint, built up during this year's election campaigns, they will be purchasing approximately 175 trees through donating to the Eden Reforestation Project.
The Eden Reforestation Project who seek to plant a minimum of 500 million trees each year and to offer hope through the employment of tens of thousands of people in countries where extreme poverty is rampant.. which will help enrich the soil and boost the local economies in these poverty-stricken areas.

Liberal Democrat Nick Garvey has won a seat in Newport Town Council's South ward, vacated after Conservative Jonathan Dix, who was elected on May 2, declined to take up his seat.
A petition of voters in the seat forced a fresh election, held on Thursday.
Mr Garvey, who won with 253 votes, was one of five candidates vying for the seat on Newport Town Council. Conservative Sarah Pearson was the nearest challenger on 184. Labour's Sarah Branton polled 53.
